1. Who we are

legitdns is a dynamic DNS service. You create an account, register hostnames under domains we provide, and point those hostnames at the IP addresses of your home computers and devices, even when those addresses change.

2. What we process

To deliver the service, we process and store what you share through it, along with relevant metadata, which we keep for security purposes. That includes your account email address, your hostnames, and the addresses they point to.

3. How we use it

We use this information to run the service, prevent abuse, and look into security problems. We do not sell personal data. We use your email address for account and service messages, and we may also use it for marketing and advertising messages about legitdns.

4. Public DNS records

DNS is a public system. Anyone can look up your hostnames and see the addresses they point to, and those answers are copied and cached by other servers around the world. Do not register a hostname for anything you need to keep private.

5. How long we keep it

Your hostnames and records stay in the service while your account is active. If your account has no activity for six months, we may close it and remove its hostnames, after sending warning emails, as described in the EULA.

6. Sharing

We do not sell data or share it for marketing. We may share it only if the law requires it, or to respond to abuse and protect the service and its users.

7. Cookies

The site uses the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to remember display choices. It uses no tracking or advertising cookies and no outside analytics.

8. Security

Connections to the site are sent over encrypted connections. No system is fully secure, so keep your password and your hostname update tokens secret.

9. Your choices

You can delete your hostnames and close your account at any time. If you do not want something stored, do not put it in the service. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
